Princeton University and the Sentient Foundation researchers have uncovered critical vulnerabilities in AI agents operating within cryptocurrency markets. The study demonstrates how memory injection attacks can manipulate AI decision-making processes, particularly those relying on online sentiment analysis.

Attackers exploit these weaknesses by deploying fake social media accounts and coordinated posts, effectively gaslighting AI systems into executing unauthorized transactions. ElizaOS, a popular framework for crypto-focused AI agents, was specifically examined due to its widespread adoption among institutional traders managing multimillion-dollar portfolios.

The findings reveal an emerging threat vector where bad actors could potentially divert funds without triggering traditional security alerts. This vulnerability disproportionately affects algorithmic trading systems that incorporate social media sentiment as a key input parameter.
